First day of school 2016

The first day of school rules!!!

Yesterday was the first day of school for the boys.  I think we were all ready to get back to a schedule in this house. But then once they were all gone I missed my helpers.  I mean they drive me crazy at times but it was lonely with 3/4 of them missing.

Grifin-6th

Dax-2nd

and Baylor is still chillin' at home with mom.  He missed the cut off for kindergarten by about 3 weeks. So we will wait another year.  I kind of enjoy the 1 on 1 time I get with him.  Preschool pics to come.

So I spent about an hour and a half after school yesterday reading, signing and filling out all the forms from the teachers.  By the end I had had enough and this was the result of that.

I don't know if you can really see it or not but there's a good chance Dax will have a rough 2nd grade year because of it.
I'm kidding.  I'm good friends with his teacher so it's fine.  I 'm sure it's fine.  I really hope it's fine.
Also there is a back story with the not letting other kids pee on his shoe answer.  Happened to Dilon in her class before we were friends. A kid peed on his shoe (you know 7 year old's and their aim), and dilon had to move his clip down because of it.  Probably the only time he had to move his clip down because the boy is a brown noser.  Anyway, it's been a long running joke since then.  Good times.

Happy 2016/17 school year everyone!

The happenings lately

I feel like we are in the stage of life where we are on the go constantly.  I long for a day we can all sit home with nothing to do.  Not happening.  Between finishing the basement--still not done, but soon--, kids & sports, work, church stuff, etc.  we never have a minute to just be.  I know one day I will miss it.  I will miss this craziness right?

The most wonderful time of the year has begun.
Football baby!!!
My Dax gets to play this year. He's so little but he's not scared. Nobody would coach the 7 year old team so Nate got wrangled into doing it.  No one gave these boys the slightest chance of scoring a touchdown let alone winning a game. Well Nate for the win!  Dax's little 7 year old team won their  very first game.  Whoop, whoop.
^^Is he not one of the cutest kids you've ever seen?!!?^^

The hot pink shoelaces were an excellent choice.  It makes it much easier for this mom to know where he is on the field.

Dilon's team lost a heart breaker for their first game of the season.  They were down 35-36 against a tough team, had the chance to win at the end but couldn't get it in.  That's the kind of stuff that can destroy a 13 year old's world.  He got over it so all is well.
^^He's the little one on the end.

My older boys think they can keep growing up on me.  We've had our back to school nights this week.  Grif only had a minor meltdown while trying to open his locker.  He got it though, he's a rock star. And the kid signed me up for the ptsa before I really knew what was happening.  I'm not the ptsa type.  I don't even know what it means so wish me luck.

^^again, dilon's the little one in the pic.  Poor kid, he'll hit a growth spurt eventually.

We did a little shoe shopping and I discovered I fit into Dilon and Grif's shoes.  Score for me.  I mean  I would never actually wear them after their sweaty, smelly, boy feet have been in them but it's nice to know I have options.

No meetings for me this Sunday (just Dilon, hence the reason we are all still in pj's and he's in Sunday best.) so in honor of the Olympics we had a family "friendly" balloon volleyball tournament.
Nate cheats!

Life is crazy but it's good.

Happy 13th Dilon

So I'm a few days late in writing this post.  I think it's due to the fact that I can't quite grasp the concept of what it is I am about to blog on.
I have had years to prepare for this, but really how do you prepare for something this massive. This gigantic.  This enormous. (get the point yet?)

I'm officially the mother of a TEENAGER!!!!!
This is what they warn you about.  For years I've heard everyone say: "just wait until you have a teenager!".  Well I've waited.  I'm ready.  I say bring it.

I blame Nate.  He's getting older but I'm certainly not.  (just forget the fact that I celebrated my 37th yesterday.  I still feel 24 so that's gotta count for something)

Ask how awesome Dilon's 13th birthday was.  It wasn't awesome.  It was kind of sad.
I blame football.  (I like to play the blame game a lot.)   He had practice and coach says you can't miss practice.  Just trying to teach my kid not to be a rule breaker.
His birthday was on Monday so we went out Saturday to celebrate.  Just lunch and a little shopping. He just had to have Hawaiian sandals.  They look girly to me but all the teenage boys have them so he had to too.  Remember he's a teenager now, it's a big deal.
Then on his actual birthday he didn't get a thing.  Okay, I felt guilty and bought him a candy bar otherwise he really would not have gotten one thing to open.
I blame wrestling (ha, see what I did there....the blame game...okay, I'm done).  He just had to have a cool singlet for wrestling this year.  The dang thing was 75 bucks so I told him if that's what he wanted that was all he was getting. I actually held my ground and stuck with it. I mean, minus the sandals, I stuck with it. Oh, and the candy bar but that doesn't count, right?
So the singlet is still being made, hence the reason for no presents to open.
Grandpa Bernie saved the day and took him golfing Monday morning so his day wasn't completely lame.
I still can't quite wrap my head around the fact that I have a teen but dang it, so far I've conquered.  I don't know what all the fuss is about with everyone else and their teens.  Mine is pretty awesome if I do say so myself!
Love you Dil pickle!!!!
