Wright reunion 2016

Our summer has been pretty boring. Hence the reason my blog has been neglected.  There's just not a lot happening.
No fun vacations
No camping trips to clear creek
Nothing too exciting.
We did have baseball.  Baseball was fun. Hot but fun.

We have been finishing our basement so that has taken 90% of our time.
We are so close to done.  Doors, trim, and carpet and it will be complete.  Pics to come of that.  Nate has worked his tail off to make it happen.
Our poor yard has been neglected so that's just dirt and weeds.  Maybe next summer we can have grass.  It's the simple things you take for granted until you don't have them anymore.

We were able to spend a little quality time with the Wright's at a family reunion last week.

I didn't get a lot of pics but I didn't completely fail, so here are a few

The older I get the more grateful I am for family.  What would be the point of being here without all these cute little faces surrounding me.  I mean at times they make me want to pull my hair out but right now I am sitting at home in silence because they are all off doing other things and I miss them.

Life is good.  Even if our summer has been mediocre.  I still wouldn't change it for the world.

Happy 30 something, Nate!

We celebrated my better half's birthday on Saturday.  We are not the couple that throws big parties or surprise parties (in fact I have threatened Nate numerous times that if he ever throws me a surprise party I would turn right back around and head out the door. Luckily he feels the same.) we don't buy each other tons of presents, we're pretty lame on birthdays.  His parents came up and took us to lunch.  I tried to get him to go to a movie and dinner but he had other plans.  Ask what he wanted to do.

Paint. He opted to start painting our basement.  Of all the things to do he put himself to work.
This is one of the many reasons he is so fan-freakin-tastic.
He is always doing something or helping someone.
For example, last weekend he was hanging out under the hood of my dads truck.
The weekend before that I'm sure he was helping one of the neighbors or friends do yard projects/house projects/car repairs.
I hear repeatedly how great he is because he is always helping someone.
His willingness to serve others has truly blessed our family.
Me and the boys hit the jackpot with this guy.
Happy Birthday, Nate!  I love your stinkin guts!!!

It's what fun is

This year me and Nate swore we weren't going to take the boys to Lagoon.  Too much money, too hot, too busy, etc.  My sister tried to get me to buy season passes with her for all the kids.  No thanks, I'll pass.  I don't mind Lagoon but it's not somewhere I want to be every weekend.
The boys ended up talking us into going, even though it was on the no-go list, and that's how we spent our 4th of July.
It was actually a pretty perfect family day (minus the buckets of sweat that came off of me. I should be 20 pounds lighter but of course that didn't happen).

Here are the happenings:

Gus is at an age where he's too big for the kid rides but doesn't like a lot of the big rides so he was on his own a lot.
Kenzie took pity on him and went with him on some.
Then Steph took pity on him...

Nate opted to take Bay around on all the kiddy rides.
He can't handle the big kid rides anymore...he's getting weak in his old age.

Then Dilon was trying to act all cool and brave and said he wanted to do the sky coaster.  After he realized he would be 150 feet in the air and falling towards his possible death he lost a bit of that confidence.
He was white as a ghost and panic filled his eyes. He looked about the same as me after I sat down to ride cannibal.
He survived. So did I.

To top the night off we got to watch fireworks all around us on the ride home.  Perfect way to end the night (and help take our minds off our aching feet).

Muffins with Hulk and flip flops galore

Loving these lazy summer days with a little fun at the splash pad. At first Dilon was too cool for it but he came around. He also wouldn't get out of the car the other day when we went to get sno cones because he was wearing flip flops and there were kids his age there.  Can you imagine the horror?
It is officially my goal to embarrass this soon to be teenager every chance I get.  Today I may take a trip to the dollar store and replace all of the shoes in his closet with dollar flip flops.

Grif chose to sit in the shade and read a book instead of get wet.  I guess all it took was the right book for him to become a reading fool.

It's not every day the Hulk stops by for breakfast.
Famous people and blueberry muffins = a great day.
