santa claus in may?

Grif came home with a paper from school today.  It said "Santa Clause is..........."  then they had to fill in the blank.  First, why are they talking about this big jolly man in the middle of May?  Second, I think grif has a bit of a twisted perception of Santa.  His response was "Santa Claus is crazy.  He is way fat and he is lazy."  I'm guessing his stocking will be full of coal this year.
